Melbourne has a new laneway. We threw it a party.
Brights & Park is a Lendlease development made up of two office buildings separated by a laneway in the heart of Melbourne. When JLL and Lendlease appointed Zesty to launch it, it just made sense to make the laneway the focal point of the concept as an homage to Melbourne’s famous laneways culture. The activation had all the markers of a fun street party: coffee, food trucks, lawn games, a DJ, and a crowd experiencing what it means to be a local.
The brief had deeper layers. The activation was built around the work of Indigenous artist Tim Moriarty, whose paintings celebrating Melbourne's seasons became the soul of the space. A traditional smoking ceremony opened the event with intention and respect. Catering was provided by Pawa, an Indigenous-owned company working almost entirely with native ingredients. Every choice reinforced the same message: this wasn't just an office building.
The context mattered too. In a post-COVID world where working from home has become the default for many, the clients wanted incoming tenants to feel something most office launches don't offer: genuine community. The activation wasn't designed to sell square metres. It was designed to make people want to be there.
Behind the seamless guest experience sat a significant logistical operation: road closures, council permits, live public activation management, and wet weather contingencies all running in parallel. The result felt effortless.
